Professional Paint Correction in Bryan-College Station, TX

Remove swirl marks, scratches, and oxidation. Restore your vehicle's paint to a mirror-like, factory-fresh finish.

What Is Paint Correction?

Paint correction is the process of removing imperfections from your vehicle's clear coat using machine polishing, professional-grade compounds, and finishing polishes. Swirl marks, light scratches, water spots, oxidation, and haze are permanently removed — not filled in or hidden with wax.

At Kurtz Auto Detailing, we use Koch-Chemie compounds and polishes paired with dual-action and rotary polishers to achieve results that hand polishing simply cannot match. The goal is to remove as little clear coat as possible while restoring a deep, glossy, defect-free finish.

What to Expect During Your Appointment

Every paint correction starts with a thorough inspection. We examine your paint under professional LED lighting and take paint depth readings with a thickness gauge to understand exactly how much clear coat we have to work with. This tells us how aggressive we can safely be with correction.

From there, we wash and fully decontaminate the vehicle — clay bar treatment and iron fallout removal to strip embedded contaminants that washing alone cannot reach. Only after the surface is completely clean do we start correcting.

We work panel by panel using dual-action and rotary polishers, selecting the right combination of Koch-Chemie compounds and pads for each area based on defect severity. Some panels need heavier cutting, others just a light polish. We do not rush and we do not cut corners — if a panel needs three passes, it gets three passes.

After correction, we do a final wipe-down with panel prep solution to remove polishing oils and reveal the true finish. Then we apply your choice of paint sealant or ceramic coating for long-term protection. The last step is a walkthrough with you so you can see the difference under direct light — before and after, panel by panel.

Paint Correction + Ceramic Coating: The Best Combination

Paint correction removes the damage. Ceramic coating prevents it from coming back. This is the most popular combination we offer — and for good reason.

Correcting your paint first creates a perfectly smooth, defect-free surface. Applying ceramic coating on top of that locks in the results for years. Without correction first, you are coating over existing scratches and swirl marks, and those imperfections will be permanently visible under the coating.

If you are planning to get ceramic coating, we strongly recommend doing paint correction first. The results are worth it — your paint will look better than it did the day you drove it off the lot.

Paint Correction FAQ

A full paint correction typically takes 4 to 8 hours depending on the size of the vehicle and the severity of the defects. For multi-stage corrections on heavily damaged paint, we block the entire day. We never rush the process — your paint gets the time it needs.

Paint correction removes defects that live in the clear coat — swirl marks, light scratches, water spots, and oxidation. Deep scratches that go through to the base coat or primer cannot be fully removed by polishing, but we can significantly reduce their appearance. We will always give you an honest assessment of what is achievable before we start.

Yes. Ceramic coating locks in whatever is underneath — good or bad. If you coat over swirl marks and scratches, those defects are permanently sealed under the coating. We always recommend at least a single-stage correction before coating to get the best possible finish.

Most vehicles only need paint correction once every 2 to 3 years if you maintain the paint properly with regular hand washes and sealant. If you add a ceramic coating after correction, you will extend that interval even further — many coated vehicles go 5+ years before needing another correction.
